About the School
We are a NON-PROFIT INSTITUTION focused on bringing the Latin American apparel sourcing region to global standards and sophistication. We were formed in 2022 under the name Guatemaltex Inc., and recently changed our name to THE SCHOOL OF APPAREL PRODUCTION (SOAP). Asia has always been known as the place to get full package garments of high quality. With "nearshoring", sourcing choices still cede the majority of garments to Asia. Both factories in Latin America and brands as well wish to take the opportunity to produce closer to North America for faster turns and lower order quantities. It can be done!
Having worked many years in the Industry, both on the Brand side and the Factory side, we have found that Latin America CAN expand their production capabilities and also solve the fabric variety puzzle.
Our mission is to give clients the confidence that their Latin American factory partner can produce, at quality, on short leadtimes. fabric availability, with a communicative production team.
We help factories gain the knowledge, skill sets, processes, and philosophies of working with global brands with ownership and accountability.
