The sewing factories are part of a Colombian government program to empower women in rural communities. Equipped with some of the best sewing machines in the world and with trainers of high quality apparel knowledge; bringing them up to global standards has less a challenge and more a joy to them to be able to learn and expand their skill set.
All production staff is hired based on attitude rather than previous experience. An open mind and learning how to do things in a quality-driven and efficient way is the most important.
DTS - San pedro Saca., Guatemala
Direct to Source, a full package Guatemalan boutique factory, has some of the best sewing quality and punctual deliveries in the Guatemala capital region. Although many American brands, as of yet, are not aware of DTS' abilities, SOAP is and will be assisting them in addressing this oversight. We will be providing guidance to senior management to understand the sourcing strategies and decision-making process to gain favor with American brands. They have already passed the first hurdles and submitted their proof of quality to some of the largest premium golfwear brands and have been approved. They are poised to take the next steps in their journey as major players of regional sourcing. We will be there every step of the way.
After the usual workday we reorganize the workfloor into a community based sewing lab so neighbors who want to learn or sewers that want to gain skills have a place to do that. There are no demands of anyone, we teach anyone who wants to learn. r wants to learn how to sew. Building the skill set of the community serves to improve the the attraction for the region for sourcing and expand work opportunities.
